Unbelievable Hospitality — Saved Our Trip! Absolutely cannot say enough good things about Shoestring Creek Campground and the kindness we were shown by Rhonda and Jay, the owners. My friends and I were deep into a long day of road-tripping and adventure, trying to find dispersed camping near Gatlinburg when things took a turn—our vehicle got completely stuck. For over an hour and a half, we tried everything to get ourselves out, and honestly, we were just about ready to give up hope. Enter Rhonda and Jay—two of the most genuine, down-to-earth people we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Not only did they help us get unstuck (which already felt like a miracle), but they welcomed us with open arms and let us stay the night at their beautiful campground. Their hospitality turned what could’ve been a miserable night into one of the most memorable parts of our trip. The campground itself is tucked away in peaceful Crosby, just outside of Gatlinburg, and it feels like a hidden gem. Quiet, welcoming, and full of character—just like the people who run it. Rhonda and Jay, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You didn’t just help us out of the mud; you reminded us what true Southern hospitality looks like. Best local place! This was hands down the best place we ever stayed for rustic accommodations. If you are looking for great accommodations in a very private retreat in the woods this is it! Wonderful beds, great fire pit, bathhouse clean and accessible, and fully rocked front store. If we lived in the area we would return every year! Has accommodations for large groups and small families like ours. I wish we could return soon!
